Tolerance Part 2

In a previous post, I wrote about tolerance and how people often lack compassion. On Sunday, my faith in humanity was restored.

Here is why…

We had a little outing to the harbor. Some quality family time with the kids away from the usual four walls. A rare occurrence in our household especially since most places are not special needs kid friendly.

It was a relaxed afternoon. A walk along the harbor, looking at the scenery. My little one was fascinated by the seals and sat contently watching them.

Along the way, there was a young man feeding a seal pieces of fish. A little way the locals make an extra buck entertaining the tourists. We stop, so my little one could see and the young man encouraged him to give it try. The compassion and patience this young man showed to my son, taking his time to explain how and that he should not be scared, was profound and heart-warming. The look on my son’s face was that of pure joy. A sensory experience of note.

This man did not judge, so why should he be judged for the way he looked or that he he smelt of fish. The purest of hearts are in the humblest of people. Thank you…Thank you for having such a kind heart and allowing me to re-see the good in humanity. Thank you for your patience with my little one and taking the time. Thank you for your soft tone and nature.
